Psychic Definition

So what is a Psychic?

Deriving from the Greek word, Psychikos, meaning, ‘from the soul’ or ‘mind’. It describes a person who has a “seemingly” unique ability to look past the veil of the world, and obtain information otherwise unobtainable by the traditional five human senses.

The term psychic was first introduced by the French Astronomer, Nicolas Camille Flammarion. Since then, the term psychic has grown into an umbrella term, which now covers a wide range of psychic phenomena. Some of the more common abilities attributed to psychic phenomena are, Premonitions, Prophecies, Fortune Telling, Telepathy and Communicating with the Dead.

There are many theories though as to the source of these abilities, as well as there purpose. Some believe they are gifts, granted to them by higher beings, others believe a close brush with death unlocked them, and some believe it’s hereditary, having had their parents psychic gene passed down to them, and the list goes on.  I personally believe that everyone is psychic, and many of these abilities lay dormant deep within each of us.

Psychics are generally associated with the Mind and Intuition, which gives rise to a sixth-sense. Allowing them to be sensitive to frequencies or even Energy around them, which in turn gives them subtle access to information. This information may come in many forms, such as dreams, emotions or even visions. Psychic, nowadays though, has evolved into something like a net, catching anything related to the mind, that surpasses normal function or processes.

So there you have it. It's a fairly simple way to kick things off. But I figured a definition of a Psychic should be somewhere near the beginning...
